One of the biggest projects we worked on in 2014 was the new web presence and membership management system for FoodLab Detroit, "a diverse community of food businesses and allies working to make good food a sustainable reality for all Detroiters." With Drupal and CiviCRM as the main ingredients, we were able to whip up a robust, content-rich platform that provides valuable resources to FoodLab's members and the wider Detroit community while also streamlining their administrative operations.
We utilized much of the functionality and deep integration that makes Drupal + CiviCRM such a tasty combination. New members complete their membership application and pay membership dues on the website; that information is fed directly into FoodLab's CiviCRM database, where staff can review and manage memberships. Members are automatically displayed in the Membership Directory with profile information automatically pulled out of the CiviCRM database. Members can log into the site to update their own profile information, share their content with the FoodLab network, and access member-only resources. All of these components are connected on the backend, avoiding the synchronization headaches and double work that can come from having multiple disconnected systems.
We greatly enjoyed our time working with FoodLab and design partner the Work Department to make their web visions a reality and continue to offer support and maintenance to help the site and database grow along with the FoodLab network!
