Palante Tech Blog

This position has been filled! Palante Technology Cooperative is seeking a new worker to join our cooperative! We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting nonprofit social justice organizations in meeting their technology goals. The new worker will join our web team, providing remote support, training, feature development and other services to clients across the country.
Palante is pleased to announce that Janine has accepted an invitation to become our latest worker-owner. Janine joined us last fall and hit the ground running, getting deeply immersed in dealing with Palante's diverse field of IT clients. They are now a vital part of our technical support wing and we are excited to continue to grow with them as an owner.  Let us all congratulate Janine on becoming a full worker-owner in our cooperative.
Back in early February, Palante headed to our newest outpost in Long Beach, California for our winter retreat. Retreats are a big change of pace: our team is distributed across both coasts and in between, and we're typically quite occupied with day-to-day work. Twice a year, we dedicate a full weekend to the retreat and put together an agenda of longer conversations we think will benefit from being in the same room (with the occasional marathon video conference participant).
Palante is thrilled to introduce our newest worker, Janine Ko! Janine comes to us with a background in computer science, peer education, ethnic studies, and health organizing, and has also worked with some of Palante's current clients in their capacity as an organizer. Their work at Palante will focus on providing tech support to clients in New York City. We're excited to have another awesome new cooperative member to work with and look forward to their collaborations with Palante's client organizations!
Happy New Year! Well sorta! ( Time just keeps slipping away!) 2017 was a year of change for Palante. We said goodbye to a co-founding worker, Joseph, started doing digital security work and welcomed several new clients to the fold! Most importantly though, and not previously stated on this blog, we welcomed two new worker-owners to the fold! Let us introduce again Kristin and Morgan!
Sadly, it is time for Palante to say goodbye to worker-owner and best beard owner, Joseph Lacey. Joseph has been with Palante since its founding in 2010 and has been a key part of Palante's growth in the CiviCRM community. We will miss his deadpan humor, rich baritone, and deep knowledge of CiviCRM and SQL. He is leaving Palante for other endeavors and we wish him the best of luck.
